So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:15
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? Romans 10:14
I love the word of God because hearing it is where faith in God comes from and continually hearing it grows this faith making it stronger and stronger. The Word is what we need to run the race of faith and obtain our crowns of righteousness. I don’t know about you but when it is time I want to say like Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing (2 Timothy 4)“. Paul’s life was coming to an end and yet he STILL had faith in God to the point where it was made COMPLETE. He knew without a doubt that he would receive a great reward for his faith – eternal life. This is strong faith in God that made it to the very end and was ready to obtain a crown. What about us, are we ready? “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. His word is what our spirits need; it is spiritual food.
The word of God is spiritual food, the living bread and living water. The truth is, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Why, you might ask? Well in John 6:63, Jesus simply explains “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” We are in need Jesus, the word of God, to endure and finish the race of faith. It begins and ends with Him. Let’s continue to make an effort everyday to read The Bible and allow Jesus Christ to speak life to us that we may be strengthen in our spiritual walk. He is our strength and power. “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God“, Hebrews 12:1-2.
God’s word is bread which came down from heaven and gives life, the bread of life. Jesus answered in John 6, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world“. Jesus, the word of God, is our daily bread and heavenly food. He is true life. This is what our still sinful hearts need to hear and be full of more than anything. The Word is peace. It is joy. It is hope. It is love, because God is love.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors?
Cleanse me from secret faults.
13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless,
And I shall be innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19
All our hearts are broken with pain and hate because of sin. May we be healed and made right by the hand of the Lord. Some of us really want to be right too, which is a gift from God. We want to know the truth, walk in the light, and be loved wholeheartedly. The word of God is what we need, because it is God’s love. Faithful love which always speak truth. Strong love which gives us strong faith. Powerful love which opens our spiritual eyes. Perfect love that casts out fear. His love makes us whole and complete.
Be bless by God’s word. Let it fill and satisfy your heart with the truth and love of God over and over and over again. God bless you and love you!
This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118
